New Patients
Your first comprehensive care visit is a very important one.
Dr. Owens, Dr. Packer, Dr. Rabun and our clinical staff schedule ample time to get to know you and your concerns, expectations, and goals. Our goal for new patients at this visit is to give them an overall picture of their oral health. We also want to inform patients of any relevant risk factors that could lead to issues in future.

comprehensive care visit
Before your appointment:
- The first step is to fill out the new patient paperwork online so we can create a file for you.
- Have you been to another office recently? If you want to transfer x-rays, please fill out the Records Release Authorization included in the packet so we can arrange that, or if you are requesting records yourself, please make sure they are sent to us before this appointment.
- Do you have dental insurance? We strongly recommend verifying what your coverage will be with our providers prior to your first appointment. See below for additional details. You’ll also need to submit photos of your insurance card and photo ID when you complete your online paperwork so we can bill your plan on your behalf.
- No dental insurance? Ask us about our The Owens Dental Wellness Plan!
Welcome!
Our staff takes the time to get to know you and goes above and beyond to make you feel at home and comfortable.
Examination
Dr. Owens, Dr. Packer and Dr. Rabun share a comprehensive approach to dentistry that shows in this appointment. Your dentist and hygienist will take a thorough look at your overall oral health, including a thorough examination of your teeth and periodontal (gum) health, a jaw joint and muscle evaluation, and an oral cancer screening.
Imaging
If you have recent x-rays that you would like to transfer in, fill out the Records Release form included in your New Patient Packet, and we can contact your previous dentist to obtain them. Otherwise, we can take complete x-rays here in our office. We will also take photographs and intra-oral photos and to aid our doctors in the comprehensive evaluation.
Diagnosis & Risk Factors
Based on the images and exam, your doctor will inform you of any diagnosis of current conditions. They also analyze your risk for tooth decay, periodontal disease, and dysfunctional occlusion, as well as steps you can take now to prevent future issues.
Goals
We love helping patients achieve their goals! Please share any dental goals and timelines with your dentist and hygienist during the appointment. They can share how we can help you reach your goals, whether they are cosmetic or function related, and come up with a timeline and budget that works for you.
